This review is from: 2011 Metal Blade Records Sampler (MP3 Download) The more free Hard Rock & Metal samplers we are offered means more chances to find great tracks. On this Metal Blade Records sampler we are successful. Open with In Solitude' Serpents are Rising. Initial Ozzie like vocal on zooming track that keeps up the pace and never lets you down. Some neat guitar on simple great track. Very cool relaxed track exit. 2nd track is Pentagram playing Call the Man. Nice deep bass line on controlled intro leads us to painfully simple lyrics barely enjoyable lead singer and unoriginal musical transitions, did I say the lyrics suck. You'll love it. Sister are next with Hated. Great power intro lead vocal combines well with chorus singing and lively band. Busy strong song like it. Track 4 is Beast of Fire from Portrait. Ranges from melodic to spooky, all with the right amount of crunch. A decent sampler, but nothing really grooundbreaking., By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: 2011 Metal Blade Records Sampler (MP3 Download) Obviously, music is subjective to personal taste, so it wouldnt shock me to find reviews with one star and with five for this. For me, three stars is just right. For the most part, this is standard Metal Blade fare, which is to say, more old metal sounds, from your Priest sounding bands to your Napalm Death style bands....your shriekers, your growlers, and your heartfelt emotional metal singers. Nothing on this really wowed me, and to me, it is simply a rehashing of older styles with no innovation. I didnt hate it, but it really didnt do anything for me either. So, like i said, although this is clearly subject to personal taste, for me, three stars fits the bill. Enjoy. |
